Wales hold on for draw - November 21, 2000
Ireland 1 Wales 1 Depsite dominating the proceedings in the second-half and hitting the woodwork on at least four occasions the Irish Women's u18's had to settle for a draw against Wales last night.
Ireland now need to beat Turkey by a large margin and hope for Wales to lose to England by at least two goals if they are to progress to the next phase of the competition.
Wales opened the scoring in the 9th minute when a Michelle Green free-kick was headed home by Jenna Hopkins who notched her 6th goal of the tournament.
Ireland equalised in the 30th minute when following a corner by Elaine O'Connor, the ball broke for Samantha McCarthy and her deflected shot beat Welsh goalkeeper Price.
