In the case of tomorrow night's senior international, the state of the Lansdowne Road pitch is less of a worry than the state of the terraces and stands.
With sub-zero temperatures forecast for tonight, the Lansdowne Road terraces could ice over, forcing he cancellation of the match.
This morning's Irish squad training session at Lansdowne has already been cancelled, because the squad are snowed-in in their Wicklow base.
Transport in the capital has also been affected by the weather. Dublin airport is currently closed and DART suburban train services are experiencing problems.
