Waterford make it tough - November 9, 2000

Waterford United 0 St. Patrick's Athletic 1

The sending off of manager Pat Dolan seemed to inspire St. Pat's in their Eircom League Cup quarter-final against Waterford at the RSC last night.

The sides were evenly matched until the 13th minute of the second half, when Dolan was dismissed from the dug-out after a row with the fourth official.

A minute later, Pat's took the lead. The Blues' central defenders reacted a fraction slowly to Alan McNevin's through ball and Jamie Harris was able to accelerate onto it before lashing the ball past Karl Mounty from eight yards.

Waterford tried hard to get back on terms, but never really looked like penetrating the massed Saints' defence.
