Derry go second - October 16, 2000 UCD 0 Derry City 1 Derry City moved into second place in the Eircom Premier League with a 1-0 win over UCD at Belfield yesterday. Derry, who were beaten at home by Galway United last weekend, were looking to bounce back to keep their league challenge on track - and a moment of inspiration from veteran Liam Coyle earned them the three points which moved them into second in the table, a point behind leaders Shelbourne. Entertainment was at a premium at Belfield with UCD looking a mere shadow of the team that did so well in the league last season. Coyle's goal came from a set piece. Derry won a throw-in and Sean Hargan released one of his trademark long throws which fell to Parkhouse. The young forward in turn delivered the ball to Coyle's feet and the veteran blasted home from a tight angle. "That was a quite dreadful performance. It's our poorest run since I took over as manager," admitted UCD boss Martin Moran.
