Ryan robs Cork - December 28, 2000
UCD 0 Cork City 0
Goalkeeper Barry Ryan was UCD's hero at frozen Belfield, producing two top-class saves in injury time to deny Cork a deserved win. Ryan went full stretch to deny John Caulfield and then got the better of Pat Morley in a one-on-one duel right at the death.
Not that Cork had looked too smart prior to that, with both sides seemingly intent on getting back to the log fire, Christmas tree and slippers. But Mark Herrick had missed one stone sitter which should have given City the points on the hour mark.
It was Michael Devine's goal which was the busier in the first half, with Eoin Bennis causing problems down the right. First he set up Mick O'Donnell for a header which Devine tipped over, then he tried a shot himself but beat the far post.
Ciaran Martyn did manage to beat Devine on the stroke of half time, but Colin O'Brien was in position to clear off the line.
