Students teach Bohs a lesson - November 15, 2000

UCD 2 Bohemians 0

UCD cruised through to the semi-finals of the EircomLeague Cup with a comfortable win over title-chasing Bohs at Belfield last night.

First-half goals by Ciaran Kavanagh and Ciaran Martyn gave the Students a cushion they never looked like losing.

Kavanagh struck first, after 16 minutes, when the overlapping Alan Mahon floated in a cross and Kavanagh got on the end of it to direct his header past Mick Dempsey in the Bohs' goal.

Eight minutes later, a mistake by defender Brian Shelley - starting his first game of the season after just four substitute appearances - allowed Eoin Bennis to pounce and he played in Martyn, who scored from the edge of the box.

Collins stiffened his side by introducing Glen Crowe, Simon Webb and Stephen Caffrey after the break, but the Gypsies still never looked like getting back in the game.
