Shock attack on Rowlands by Noades - October 5, 2000 Brentford boss Ron Noades has never been shy about letting his feelings be known - but he has gone a step too far by washing his dirty laundry in public with a shock attack on his star midfielder, Martin Rowlands. Rowlands is currently with the Irish u21 squad preparing for a showdown with Portugal on Friday night and it is unfair to talk about him when he is not around to defend himself. Noades has accused the talented midfielder of "believing his own publicity" and reckons he has broken into international football too early in his career. Bullshit! Rowlands is 21 and he is playing for the Irish u21 team. How in the name of God can that be too early? Noades has also accused Rowlands of making youth team errors, which is costing his team. He said: "He (Rowlands) has exceptional talent but makes mistakes that you see in non league or the youth team. "I want Martin to do well for himself and the team, and if the team do well he will do well and go on to great things in the game. I have no doubt of that. "But I think he has got into the Ireland squad too early and one or two people have started to tell him he is good and he is believing his own publicity too much." |
