Kerr names u18 squad for Swiss friendly - September 13, 2000

As Ireland get ready for the European Championship qualifiers in the Czech Republic in October, manager Brian Kerr has named a new-look squad to face Switzerland in a friendly at Frank Cooke Park, Dublin, next Tuesday (5:30pm).

Players such as Aston Villa's Wayne Henderson and Nottingham Forest's Andy Reid move up another age grade and Bolton's Kevin Nolan, Manchester United's Paul Tierney and QPR's Brian Fitzgerald have been called up for the first time.

There is only one home-based player in the squad: UCD star Robbie Martin, who has set the Eircom Premier League alight this season, earns international recognition for his great start to the season.

Ireland face the Czech Republic on October 15, followed by a game against the unknown Moldovans two days later. They finish their European Championship qualifying group against Bulgaria on October 19.
