Kerr forced to make u16 changes for Norway - February 14, 2000

Republic of Ireland u16 manager Brian Kerr has been forced to make the usual quota of changes ahead of tonight's friendly against Norway in United Park, Drogheda.

Manchester City duo Stephen Elliott and Glen Whelan, Seatown goalkeeper Paul Murphy and Millwall's Barry Cogan have withdrawn from the squad and have been replaced by Leeds duo Robbie Shields and Paul Keegan, John Flood of St. Joseph's Boys and Reading's Simon Cox.

Elliott's withdrawal means the continuation of a jinx which has wrecked his international career recently.

Elliott starred at u15 level last season, but injury forced him to miss Ireland's three previous u16 games this season - against Latvia, Spain and England.

Republic of Ireland revised squad v Norway: Morgan Cranley (Grimsby Town), Simon Cox (Reading), Vincent Tyrell (Home Farm), Killian Brennan (Home Farm), Ciaran Sharkey (Belvedere), Chris McGrath (Liverpool), Pierre Ennis (Aston Villa), Eddie Keyes (Belvedere), John Flood (St. Joseph's Boys), Pierce Power (Ferrybank), Neil McCafferty (Charlton Athletic), Darren Potter (Liverpool), Brian Gannon (Lourdes Celtic), Paul Keegan (Leeds United), Stephen Maguire (Belvedere), Denis Behan (Abbeyfeale), Robbie Shields (Leeds United), Mark O'Brien (Belvedere)
