Irish trio on road to recovery - November 24, 2000

Oldham's John Sheridan and Barry Prenderville and Cardiff City's Willie Boland are all on the road to recovery after long-term injuries.

Former Irish senior international Sheridan, who hasn't played for the Oldham first team since day one of the season, came through the full 90 minutes of a reserve clash against Stockport County last night. This was his third reserve game since he returned from knee surgery and he is now knocking on the door for a place in the squad for Oldham's league game at the weekend.

Barry Prenderville came through the same game and could also come into contention at the weekend after missing two months with injury.

Cardiff's Willie Boland has made giant strides to get back to action after breaking his leg in August during a 2-2 draw at Barnet. The 25-year-old is back training and could be ready for first-team action in the next fortnight.

Cardiff boss Alan Cork said: "Willie's almost back in full training - he's not very far away at all."
