McCarthy names team to meet Denmark - February 27, 2000

Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has just announced his team to meet Denmark in tomorrow night's weather-threatened international - and there are no surprises.

In the absence of injury victims Jason McAteer, Gary Kelly and Steve Carr, Ireland will have a new right flank formed by Fulham's Steve Finnan playing in front of Wimbledon's Kenny Cunningham, who starts his first game for Ireland in almost a year and will have the task of marking Chelsea's Jesper Gronkjaer.

As expected, Shay Given starts in goal, while Feyenoord's David Connolly partners Robbie Keane up front.

Ipswich Town's Matt Holland and Manchester United's Roy Keane, both named in central midfield, are carrying slight injuries and will have fitness tests tomorrow.

Republic of Ireland v Denmark (4-4-2): Shay Given (Newcastle United); Kenny Cunningham (Wimbledon), Gary Breen (Coventry City), Richard Dunne (Manchester City), Ian Harte (Leeds United); Steve Finnan (Fulham), Matt Holland (Ipswich Town), Roy Keane (Manchester United), Kevin Kilbane (Sunderland); Robbie Keane (Inter Milan), David Connolly (Feyenoord)
