Stan on 24-hour recall - October 31, 2000

Steve Staunton's loan deal at Crystal Palace has a clause included which allows Liverpool recall the player on 24 hours' notice.

Stan was instrumental in Palace earning a 3-3 draw against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday but he has no intention of signing a permanent deal with the Eagles.

The clause was added to the loan contract because of the interest from other clubs for the signature of Staunton and if a concrete deal was reached with an interested party then the club would be able to move proceedings quickly.

Aston Villa are still the favourites to sign the 31-year-old Irish international, who is available on a free transfer. But as yet nothing is sorted.
