McPhail's season in doubt - October 31, 2000 Stephen McPhail might have kicked his last football of the season according to his manager David O'Leary. McPhail has been suffering from an Achilles tendon injury for the past nine months and if he has to have surgery for the problem it will keep him out of action for the remainder of the season. The Irish international is currently in Germany being treated by specialist Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt. He will spend ten days there before returning to Elland Road. If the treatment from the German works he will be out for a couple of months - but if it doesn't it means an operation which will end his season. David O'Leary said: "Stephen will be out for a long time. He has gone back to Germany to see the specialist who has treated him before, concerning his Achilles tendon injury." |
