Carr losing patience with Spurs - November 7, 2000 Stephen Carr is beginning to lose patience with Tottenham Hotspurs over their continual stalling tactics over a better deal which the Irish international believes he deserves. He has called on director of football David Pleat to "show him a little respect" but Tottenham are happy in the knowledge that Carr has still three years to run on his current contract which is worth only £4,000 a week to the player. Carr, who was named Spurs Player of the Year last season only wants what he rightfully thinks in his. He wants his wage packet to be raised so that it is in line with others at the club which sounds fair. "All I'm asking for is financial parity with other first-teamers, but the club seem to feel that, as I have another three and a half years on my contract, there isn't a problem," said Carr. "I love playing for Spurs and would gladly stay, but they have to show me a little respect. I know that the fans appreciate me working my socks off every Saturday, but it seems that the club haven't been prepared to properly reward me for this. "The big news is that there's a final meeting between myself and David Pleat on Thursday evening. "It's make or break time." |
