Shels iced out - January 15, 2001

Shels could have gone twelve points clear at the top of the Eircom premier table on Friday, but their home game against Derry City fell victim to the weather.

But Bohemians also missed out on their chance to close the gap when their game against Finn Harps was also iced out.

Shels boss Dermot Keely wasn't happy because Tolka Park was playable at midday. But as soon as the sun went behind the stands, a hard frost set in.

Derry weren't happy either, because they were told of the cancellation just before they were about to set off on the long trip to Dublin. Worryingly for the Candystripes, unplayed games are beginning to pile up on them.

And the Eircom League management definitely weren't happy because their fixtures nightmare is just getting worse and worse.
