Geoghegan fit for Rosenborg clash - July 26, 2000

There was good news for Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely ahead of his team's showdown against Rosenborg tonight in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. Striker Stephen Geoghegan passed a fitness test and will be available for the game.

The veteran striker went over on his ankle in the warm-up before last Wednesday's game against Sloga Jugomagnat and was rated as doubtful for tonight's game.

"He shouldn't have stood a chance," said Keely. "His ankle was a mess but he's a quick healer."

Geoghegan should figure from the start against the Norwegians tonight with Gary Haylock pushing back into midfield.

Shelbourne are calling for a full house tonight at Tolka Park as they bid to master one of the most successful Scandinavian teams in the Champions League.

Shelbourne will have their work cut out against Rosenborg. The Norwegian champions elect are in the middle of their league campaign which makes them match sharp.

They will come to Dublin to try and win the tie so Dermot Keely's men will have to be at their best to get a result.
