Shelbourne interest in Southend's Fitz - March 13,
2001
Former Irish underage international Trevor Fitzpatrick has impressed during a week's trial at Tolka Park and could be a Shelbourne player for next season.
The 21-year-old's contract with Southend United was cancelled last week. Fitzpatrick had been transfer listed since shortly after the arrival of Dave Webb as manager this season.
But Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely liked what he saw of the youngster.
"Trevor looked very good in a practice match," Keely said. "He looked good in the air, he has good control and he knows his way around the pitch. He is the right age for us and his arrival would increase competition up front."
Fitzpatrick could be the long-term replacement for Richie Foran, who is said to be a target for QPR.
