Get fit or get lost, Sanchez tells Devine - January 23, 2001

Wycombe Wanderers boss Lawrie Sanchez has told his Republic of Ireland 'B' international striker Sean Devine that he is out the door if his mystery injury does not clear up in time for next season.

Devine was Wycombe's record signing after he helped them to avoid relegation while on loan from Barnet the season before last. Last season, he hit a record 23 goals for his new club - but hasn't kicked a ball this term.

The Irishman injured his kneecap at the tail end of last season and the injury has baffled experts at the Sports Medical Centre in Lilleshall.

Now Sanchez - himself a former Northern Ireland international - says: "I'm not going to be in this position next season. If Sean can't play I'll get someone who can.

"I'm not going to be in a situation again where I've only got one goalscorer at the club."
