Gutted Sadlier misses chance - November 9, 2000 Millwall striker Richard Sadlier will miss out on the chance to train with the Irish senior squad after picking up an injury. Irish boss Mick McCarthy called up Sadlier and fellow Irish u21 international Michael Reddy of Sunderland to give them experience of the senior set-up. But the in-form Millwall striker - just back after long-term injury - hurt his shoulder in a Nationwide division one game against Wigan on Tuesday. "I'm absolutely gutted to miss my chance to train with my heroes," Sadlier said. "Just to get over to Dublin to train with the lads would have left me in a daze. "I fell awkwardly on Tuesday night. I'm absolutely destroyed about it." To make matters worse, there was every chance that Sadlier would have been called into the senior squad, as Niall Quinn looks unlikely to figure against Finland. That chance will probably now go to Reddy.
