Scan scare for Roy - August 28, 2000 Roy Keane will undergo a scan on a back injury today - but is expected to link up with the Irish squad tomorrow. According to Irish manager Mick McCarthy, Keane will take his place in the Irish team on Saturday regardless of the results of the test - but the timing is an added worry for McCarthy, who must keep his fingers crossed with five members of his squad in action today. Keane has been troubled by a niggling back injury for some weeks and the scan is being described as 'a precautionary measure'. "It's a problem Roy has had for a while," McCarthy said. "But he will be joining up with us on Tuesday night." Blackburn trio Alan Kelly, Damien Duff and Jason McAteer and Fulham's Steve Finnan are in Nationwide League action today. Robbie Keane plays in a friendly for Inter Milan against Olympiakos tonight. Meanwhile, Dutch manager Louis Van Gaal has his problems too. He could be without Jaap Stam and Boudewijn Zenden for Saturday's match. |
