Keane and Best trail Cantona in United poll - February 20, 2001

Manchester United fans have chosen Eric Cantona as the all-time greatest Manchester United player - with Irishman George Best relegated to second place!

Roy Keane - described by Alan Hansen as the most dominant player in the Premiership since Duncan Edwards - comes in at a lowly seventh, while Edwards himself is ninth, one place behind David Beckham!

Neither the great Jackie Carey nor Paul McGrath features in the top ten, while Denis Irwin comes in at 16th.

The poll was conducted by Manchester United's official magazine to celebrate its hundredth issue and tends to confirm what we've always suspected - a) the average age of Manchester United fans is six and b) for six-year-olds, they don't know a Hell of a lot about football!

The full top ten is: 1 Eric Canton, 2 George Best, 3 Ryan Giggs, 4 Bobby Charlton, 5 Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer, 6 Bryan Robson, 7 Roy Keane, 8 Mr. Posh, 9 Duncan Edwards, 10 Denis Law
