Shamrocks to keep roving! - June 16, 2000

Shamrock Rovers' plans to kick-off the coming campaign in their new stadium in Tallaght were nothing but a pipe dream. The players and staff still face the same uncertainty as they have over the last decade as to where will be their home ground when the League kicks off.Shamrocks to keep roving!

They have run into planning problems with their own stadium and it definitely won't be ready in time. All work has stopped there at the moment so there that won't be any interference with exams going on in the neighbouring school.

Rovers chairman Joe Colwell confirmed that the stadium will not be ready - stating that the pitch had to be laid in the growing season as one of the main reasons. The club have no plans to use the Morten Athletic Stadium in Santry again this season; instead they are looking for a ground-sharing agreement with one of the other League clubs.

Rovers boss Damien Richardson has made his first major summer signing. Richardson swooped for Cork City defender Gareth Cronin this week and has promised more signings over the coming weeks.
