O'Brien on trial at Forest - January 26, 2001
Ronnie O'Brien, the Irish underage international who created a sensation by signing for Juventus as an 18-year-old after being released by Middlesbrough, is on trial at Nottingham Forest.
Juventus have no reserve team and O'Brien has spent all his time on loan in Switzerland and Italy, most lately with Como in the Italian Serie C.
Now Forest boss David Platt, who experienced the ups and downs of Italian football both as player and coach, has handed O'Brien the chance to revive his career.
The Irishman will spend a week training with Forest and will be given a contract if he impresses.
