Unstoppable Robbie does it again - February 5, 2001
Robbie Keane's goals continue to drag Leeds up the Premiership table by the scruff of the neck! The Yorkshire side were relegation contenders a few weeks ago; now they lie seventh in the table after Keane's sixth goal in as many starts gave them victory over Ipswich.
Keane first pressured Mark Venus into an own goal to give Leeds the lead. Then, after Venus had made amends with a cracking equaliser, the Irish striker secured the points with a clinical left-foot volley.
It wasn't such a good day for international colleague Keith O'Neill, who marred a good performance for Middlesbrough against Manchester City by getting himself sent off for an ugly lunge four minutes from time.
Other Irish players in trouble over the weekend were Brentford's Martin Rowlands - his tenth yellow card of the season - and Sunderland's Michael Reddy, who scored on his loan debut at Swindon last weekend but this time picked up a yellow card.
Stoke's James O'Connor also went into the referee's notebook.
