Robbie opens Leeds account - January 2, 2001

Robbie Keane opened his Leeds account yesterday to rescue a point for the struggling Yorkshire side.

Making his first start for Leeds, Keane stepped up to hammer home from the penalty spot after international colleague Curtis Fleming was harshly adjudged to have handled Mark Viduka's flick.

Another Irishman in penalty action was goalkeeper Dean Kiely. His 75th -minute save from Nelson Vivas' spot kick helped Charlton to a famous win over title challengers Arsenal.

Lower down the leagues,Gareth Farrelly scored Bolton's opener in their 2-0 win over Preston. And in division three, Kieron Durkan notched Macclesfield's opener as the Silkmen carved out a 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe.
