Keane ready for competitive debut - August 9, 2000 Robbie Keane is ready to stake a claim for a first-team place in Inter Milan's team of stars as the Italians get ready to face Helsingborgs in the Champions League third qualifying round tonight in Norway. Italian sporting bible La Gazzetta dello Sport is tipping the young Irishman for his competitive debut ahead of Turkish star Hakan Suker. Suker has laboured in Inter's pre-season so far and, as for Keane, he has looked as sharp as a tack. Inter fans have no doubt that they want Keane to start tonight. The poll on Inter's official website has swung even more in the favour of the Irishman. The 4,000 or so fans who have voted don't care who partners Robbie - but they are adamant that he must play. Inter Probable (4-4-2): 1 Frey; 21 Ferrari, 5 Blanc, 2 Cordoba, 17 Domoraud; 23 Brocchi, 15 Cauet, 8 Jugovic, 11 Pirlo; 7 Keane, 18 Zamorano |
