Keane to be a San Siro star - July 31, 2000 Ireland's Robbie Keane has made the sort of move that most football players can only dream about. The 20-year-old striker has joined Inter Milan for £12m from Coventry only a year after he joined the Highfield Road club. Robbie has signed a five-year contract with Inter which will see him playing alongside footballing greats such as Ronaldo and Christian Vieri and the young Dubliner is not fazed by the move at all. He said: "The thought of playing alongside players like Seedorf, Zamorano, Ronaldo, Vieri and Blanc and working under a coach like Marcello Lippi fills me with excitement. "When I used to kick a ball around in the back streets of Dublin, I could never have imagined that one day I would pull on the legendary blue and black striped shirt of Inter Milan. It is every kid's dream come true." Robbie will be introduced to the Italian press today after undergoing a medical at the famous club. The signing of such a raw talent will come as a huge surprise to a lot of people in football especially those in Italy but Keane has the talent to prove himself in the best league in the world just the same as he proved himself in the Premiership. |
