Partridge feeling like one of the family - November 28, 2000

Ireland's wing wizard Richie Partridge is knocking on the door for his debut first-team start for Liverpool. This progress has the 20-year-old former Stella Maris player delighted.

Richie has been named in the last two Liverpool squads for the games against Olympiakos and Newcastle and there is a good possibility that he could get his opportunity for first-team football on Wednesday against Stoke City in the Worthington Cup.

Partridge said: "If the manager is naming me on the bench then it means he must trust me. I can't ask for any more than that. I know that I am in the squad at the moment because we have a few players carrying injuries, but it is my aim to keep improving and make it difficult for the boss to leave me out even when everyone is fit.

"It is always a great experience when you are with the first team squad and this past week has been brilliant for me. I was on the bench in Athens and then again at Newcastle. Of course I was hoping to get on but it never happened for me in either game.

"I'm really happy with the way things are going this season. Unfortunately we haven't played too many reserve games but I have been feeling really sharp in training and I know I am improving all the time."
