Dunne will make debut - October 23, 2000 Irish international Richard Dunne is set to make his debut for Manchester City at the Dell tonight. City boss Joe Royle has promised Dunne 'some involvement' in the game. Dunne arrived at Maine Road just last week in a £3 million move from Everton, after impressing in three World Cup qualifiers for Ireland - against Holland, Portugal and Estonia. Royle was already acquainted with the Tallaght youngster, having given Dunne his Premiership debut as a 17-year-old at Everton. But though Royle has promised his new signing some action against Southampton, Dunne might have to bide his time before securing a regular first-team slot. The Manchester City manager has already bought five defenders since March and hopes to strengthen his squad further with the £2 million signing of Laurent Charvet from Newcastle this week. |
