Ireland fall four places in World rankings! - March 14,
2001
The Republic of Ireland has slipped four places in FIFA's latest World Comedy Rankings - even though we haven't kicked a ball in anger since last month's list!
Mick McCarthy's side are now 35th in the table - down from 31st last month - behind the likes of Trinidad & Tobago (31st), Scotland (28th), Saudi Arabia (25th) and (wait for it) England (16th)!
But at least we're still ahead of Northern Ireland - a lowly 96th - and Wales. Mark Hughes' team come in at 109th, just below Drogheda United, Celebrity Big Brother and Spandau Ballet.
Mind you, it should be said that we never used to ridicule the FIFA rankings when we were placed fourth in the world, way above the Ould Enemy!
