Prenderville suffers injury setback - January 9, 2001
Barry Prenderville only lasted eight minutes of his comeback against Wolves at Molineux last night in a reserve game.
The former Coventry, Hibernian and St. Patrick's Athletic defender was one of only four senior players in the Oldham team who lined up against Wolves.
But within minutes he had to leave the fray because of a recurrence of a hamstring problem which has kept him out of the game since September. The worrying thing is that this was his second attempt at a comeback without any success.
Wolves easily won the game thanks largely to a huge Irish influence. JJ Melligan opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when he broke the length of the field before playing a one-two with Temuri Ketsbaia and when he received the ball back he rifled it home from outside the box.
Seamus Crowe also had a great game as did fellow Irishman Colin Larkin, who replaced Ketsbaia in the 57th minute.
