Prenderville joins Oldham - September 7, 2000

The revolving career of young Irishman Barry Prenderville has taken another turn. The 23-year-old defender has left St. Patrick's Athletic to join English Second Division outfit Oldham Athletic after signing a two-year this week.

Prenderville began his career at Premiership Coventry City but failed to make an impact and after a 13-match loan spell with Scottish Premier side Aberdeen he was signed by Ayr United. At Aberdeen he looked like he would turn into a very useful player, scoring twice from the 13 starts.

Things didn't work out for him at Ayr, with only six games in a season, so he decided on a move back to Ireland and St. Patrick's Athletic.

He began to get regular football at Pat's and showed that he had a lot to offer - enough to earn him another stab at England.

Prenderville joins Irishmen Gary Kelly and John Sheridan at the club. He was immediately named in the reserve squad to face West Brom.
