Irish warm up for Denmark! - February 26, 2001

Key members of the Irish senior team warmed up for Wednesday's Lansdowne Road friendly against Denmark by cracking in Premiership goals over the weekend.

Full back Ian Harte scored his seventh of the season - and fourth in five games - blasting a 45th-minute penalty to send Leeds United on their way to a 2-1 win away to Tottenham, in a match which saw Robbie Keane booked.

Roy Keane notched his second goal of the season and first of the New Year to help Manchester United to an incredible 6-1 win over second-placed Arsenal. The Irishman scored United's fourth, having set Dwight Yorke up for the second with a brilliant through ball.

Keane limped off in the second half, but will be fit to take his place against the Danes.

With Mark Kinsella withdrawing from the squad, Keane is almost certain to be partnered in central midfield by Matt Holland - and the Ipswich skipper celebrated by firing his side's first goal in a 2-0 win over Everton.

It was an important strike because Everton had already survived 82 minutes with their goal intact and looked good value for a draw. But once Holland had broken the deadlock, substitute Alun Armstrong wrapped it up two minutes later.
