Portmarnock 3 Rockmount 0

Portmarnock stuck three past Rockmount to join fellow non-leaguers Cherry Orchard in the draw for the third round of the FAI Cup. The result came as something of a shock to Munster senior side Rockmount, who more than held their own against Eircom opposition in last year's League Cup, ending the interest of Cork City, Cobh Ramblers and Waterford United on their way to the semi-final.

But Portmarnock have their own Cup pedigree, having won last year's FAI Junior Cup, and they included four current junior internationals in their side in McDonald, Branigan, Flynn and Doran. They set about upsetting

Rockmount right from the start, with goals Joe Feeney and Adrian McDonald inside the first 20 minutes.

Five minutes later Rockmount knew it wasn't going to be their day when 'keeper Pat Cassidy saw red.

Portmarnock also finished a man short after Declan Dolan was sent off six minutes from the end. But by then the junior side had made the game safe with a Des Cummins free kick in the 67th minute.
