Portmarnock appeal upheld - February 15,
2001
Portmarnock's appeal against the refixture of their postponed FAI Cup third-round match against Dundalk has been upheld.
The Dublin-based intermediate side appealed the decision to fix the match for last Wednesday at Hyland Park, Baldonnell, on the grounds that not enough time was allowed for the clubs to reach a mutually acceptable date and venue; and that notice of the refixed game was too short.
The game was originally scheduled to go ahead on the previous Saturday at the AUL Complex in Clonshaugh, but the pitch was waterlogged, The decision to refix the match for the following Wednesday was taken only on the Tuesday afternoon.
Now the game will be played on Tuesday, February 27, and Portmarnock - who fly out to the Costa del Dol tomorrow to celebrate winning last year's AUL premier title - have until 18:00 tomorrow to come up with a suitable Dublin venue, or else forfeit home advantage.
Tolka Park or HFF's home ground at Whitehall are possible venues.
