Athlone seek Molloy clearance - August 25, 2000 Athlone Town go into their home Division One game against Drogheda United tonight hoping that they will be able to use new signing Eric Molloy. Molloy was snapped up from Manchester United yesterday after spending three years at Old Trafford. The 20-year-old striker has played and scored for the United u19s over the last couple of seasons and should be a great acquisition for Liam Buckley's side - but it remains to be seen whether his clearance will come through in time for him to play tonight. Athlone go into tonight's game trying to maintain top spot in the Division. Drogheda, on the other hand, have got off to a miserable start to life in the lower division after relegation last season. They have earned only one point from their three games so far and even at this early stage they cannot afford to fall any further behind if they want to challenge for honours. Elsewhere, St. Francis have the monumental task of travelling to the RSC in Waterford tonight in search of their first points of the season. Waterford have won two out of three and they should add another three points against the Dubliners. |
