Cassidy wants Conor back - September 1, 2000

Sligo Rovers manager Tommy Cassidy is hoping that Conor O'Grady will return to the club after he finishes his stint in Gaelic Football.

O'Grady, who was on trial with Dundee United a couple of weeks ago, decided to quit soccer and play Gaelic football with St. Mary's GFC. His move to Gaelic meant that he was not allowed to play soccer but Cassidy wants him to return when the season is over.

Conor thought his chance in the big time had come when he won a trial at Scottish Premier outfit Dundee United but a mysterious illness hampered his progress in Scotland and he returned to Ireland.

It would be a shame for soccer to lose such a talented player. O'Grady has played for Ireland at underage level and has not looked out of place with the more illustrious English-based players.

With the right coaching he could be turned into one of the best soccer players in the country. But firstly he has to return to the game.
