Coyle goes to Ross - December 8, 2000
Former Republic of Ireland international striker Owen Coyle has dropped a division in an effort to secure first-team football.
On the books at Scottish Premier side Dunfermline, Coyle has gone on loan to Ross County in the first division with a view to a permanent move. He made his debut for Ross - his eighth club - in the 0-0 draw against Alloa last weekend.
Now 34, Coyle has been told he is surplus to requirements at Dunfermline. But he has found it difficult to interest other clubs, mainly because of his wage bill- reputedly one of the highest in Scottish soccer.
Coyle, who won his only cap for Ireland against Holland in 1994 whilst playing for Bolton Wanderers, has always been a prolific goalscorer - 202 goals in 560 games.
