Cork could lose their manager - July 4, 2000 It is looking likely that Cork City could lose their manager even before he leads them in their first league game. Colin Murphy took over from the legendary Dave Barry at the end of last season but it looks as if he is set to leave the club already - moving to Leicester as assistant manager to his friend Peter Taylor. Murphy missed Cork's SuperCup win against Shelbourne at the weekend as he was away in England on business - which has fuelled even more the rumours that he is set to leave the club just six weeks after joining. No official approach has been made by Leicester but it is believed that Taylor has earmarked Murphy for a move to Filbert Street as part of the club's coaching staff. Taylor has been on the hunt for an assistant since John Robertson followed Martin O'Neill to Celtic. «back to eircom league stories |
