Rutherford's Eircom return? - January 12, 2001
Former Shels favourite Mark Rutherford could soon be back in the Eircom League. The flying winger has been transfer-listed by Irish League club Newry Town.
The news is bound to interest a host of Eircom League managers - including Galway's Don O'Riordan and Bohemians' Roddy Collins. Both teams are short of genuine width.
Rutherford would fancy a return to Dublin and Bohemians - where Trevor Molloy has been pressed into service as an emergency left-winger - are the most likely destination.
A return to Shelbourne, where Rutherford tasted FAI Cup glory in the mid-Nineties, is unlikely. The champions have an embarrassment of riches on the left of midfield, with Mark Hutchison in the team and James Keddy on the bench.
