Orchard take the cherry - January 8, 2001
Moyle Park 0 Cherry Orchard 1
Cherry Orchard took the honours in the battle of the non-leaguers at Clondalkin, seeing off Moyle Park College with a Paul Kenny strike on 17 minutes.
These two are well used to meeting in the Leinster Senior League and there was no love lost between them yesterday, with six players booked and one sent off.
Significantly in a game in which there was so little between the sides, it was Moyle Park who were reduced to ten men when Robert Galvin got his marching orders eleven minutes from time, effectively ending any hope of an equaliser.
Kenny had already fired a shot across Moyle's bows before he scored in the 17th minute. After just four minutes, he whacked a free kick off the crossbar - and Kenny would go on to have a shot cleared off the line by Paddy O'Hanlon on 42 minutes.
In between though he did the business, steering home John Luby's cross following a quickly-taken corner.
