Evans a Rover - August 21, 2000 Former Ireland international Micky Evans has joined Bristol Rovers on loan. The out-of-favour West Brom striker signed for Rovers on Saturday - and manager Ian Holloway put him straight into the team for the trip to Peterbrough yesterday. Evans celebrated with Rovers' first goal after 28 minutes, equalising Green's opener after 20. The game finished 2-2 with Evans being substituted near the end. Evans was a Southampton player when he won his only senior cap for the Republic, coming on as an 85th-minute sub for Tony Cascarino in the 1997 World Cup qualifier against Romania at Lansdowne Road. The match ended 1-1, spoiling Romania's 100% record in the group.
