Republic of Ireland hero Alan McLoughlin has been transfer-listed by Wigan boss Bruce Rioch - but still figured as a substitute for the club during the 0-0 draw at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Rioch has put four players up for transfer but has said he will use all four for the team until such time as they actually leave the club.

The four are Neil Redfearn, Brian McLaughlin, Andy Porter and McLoughlin. Rioch said: "If that decision surprised a few people, so be it. As managers, we're here to make decisions and make them in the best interests of everybody concerned.

"I spoke with all four players last week and explained that it did not necessarily mean they wouldn't play in the team.

"These decisions are taken and made but while you have players at your club you still need to get the maximum from them."
