McAteer linked with Southampton - November 20, 2000
Jason McAteer is the latest Irish player to be linked with a move away from Blackburn Rovers with the news that Southampton boss Glenn Hoddle is lining up a move for his services.
McAteer, along with every other Irish person at Ewood Park, have fallen out of favour with Blackburn since Graeme Souness took over as manager and the 29-year-old Irish international might relish a move away from what is clearly an anti-Irish policy at the club.
It will take somewhere in the region of £1.5m to prise McAteer away from Blackburn but Hoddle seems to have some money to spend at The Dell so he should have no problem raising the cash.
