Three-match ban for Herrick the Red - January 25, 2001

Cork City will have to do without the services of Mark Herrick for three games after he was handed down a lengthy ban by the League's disciplinary committee.

The influential midfielder will miss the games against Finn Harps at Ballybofey, Bray Wanderers at Turner's Cross and Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

Herrick was hit with a two-match ban for his sending off against Longford Town in the FAI Cup match on January 14 and picked up the extra match ban because he reached the five penalty-point limit for yellow cards.

Mark will be hugely missed by Derek Mountfield's side because he is their main goal threat when the forwards fail to find the target, as he proved last night against Shamrock Rovers.

Cork will also have to do without the services of veteran defender Declan Daly for one game at the start of February.

Other players to pick up suspensions are Kilkenny City's Carlos Rocha, Graham Doyle and John Chandler (St. Francis), Paul Scully and Alan Reynolds (Waterford), Paul Crowley and Brian Honan (Home Farm Fingal) and David Dunphy (Limerick).
