Royle picks Dunne for special mention - February 1, 2001

Liverpool jinx Richard Dunne was picked out for special praise from his manager, Joe Royle, as Man City earned a creditable draw against the Reds last night.

Dunne, who has never been on a losing team against Liverpool since he crossed the Irish Sea, kept that record intact last night with a brilliant defensive display.

Royle said: "Richard was outstanding again and if he can gain a little more fitness he has the ability to become one of the best defenders around".

In other good news for Ireland and Man City, Mark Kennedy returns to action tonight for the City reserves against Oldham in the Manchester Senior Cup.

Kennedy has missed over a month of football since he limped out of the Sunderland game just before Christmas.
