Carsley questions Souness' coaching credentials - January 16, 2001
Republic of Ireland midfielder Lee Carsley is delighted with the progress his game has made since he joined Coventry from Blackburn Rovers.
The tough-tackling midfielder puts it all down to manager Gordon Strachan and has gone on record as saying that he has learned more in three weeks under Strachan than he did in three months under Graeme Souness at Blackburn.
Lee has settled into his midfield duties with the Sky Blues and is convinced that his game can only get better with Strachan as his master.
He said: "It's gone really well since I arrived here, mainly because Gordon Strachan is quality. He's a players' manager and was a big reason why I joined Coventry. He's a midfielder like myself and he can still do it on the training pitch.
"Don't get me wrong, Blackburn are a good club and we'd settled there. But this is different. I'm with someone who really wants to help me improve.
"I'd go so far as to say that I've learned more in three weeks under Gordon Strachan than I did in three months under Graeme Souness."
