Delap, McAteer set to return - February 22, 2001
Republic of Ireland international Rory Delap is on the comeback trail. The Derby County utility man - included in the Irish squad for the friendly against Denmark next Wednesday - damaged his knee ligaments against Sunderland a fortnight ago but is set to return to Derby's first team against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Blackburn midfielder Jason McAteer, who is also a member of the squad to face Denmark, looks to be winning his battle with injury.
McAteer missed Blackburn's 1-0 win over Watford on Tuesday night because of a thigh strain, but is expected to be fit for tomorrow night's visit to Bolton.
That's good news for Irish manager Mick McCarthy, who has already seen Steve Carr and Dean Kiely forced out of his squad
