Seamus Kelly linked with St. Pat's - July 7, 2000 Cardiff City goalkeeper Seamus Kelly has been linked with a move back to Ireland to join St. Patrick's Athletic. The former UCD goalkeeper has failed to hold down a first-team place at Ninian Park in his two seasons at the club. He played the last five games of the 1998-99 season and again last year was utilised at the end of the season - but his twelve starts in two seasons are a poor return for a goalkeeper who promised so much. St. Pat's boss Pat Dolan has promised first-choice goalkeeper Trevor Wood that he will release him from his contract if he can find a club in England - which would leave the door open for Kelly to claim regular football. Wood wants to return to England for family reasons and St. Pat's won't stand in his way. Dolan said: "Trevor wants to go back to England for family reasons. He has been a great servant to us and we are prepared to release him from the remaining year of his contract if he gets fixed up." «back to eircom league stories |
