Collins reneges on deal - October 31, 2000 Dermot Keely is not impressed with the way Roddy Collins does business after the Shelbourne manager accused the Bohs boss of reneging on a deal which the two men thrashed out last week which would release four Bohs players for Wednesday night's inter-league clash against the north. Keely named four Bohemians players in his original squad but with the Dublin outfit playing on Friday night against Shamrock Rovers Collins was understandably worried about releasing his stars. The two managers met last week and hammered out a deal which suited both - but Keely now says that Collins has reneged on the deal and pulled his players. "I told Roddy I would only play Kevin Hunt from the start and then possibly throw in a second Bohs player at some stage of the game," said Keely. "That would allow the other two Bohs players to withdraw from the squad or be named as unused subs. I fully understand that Roddy wants to win the league and that the powers that be have not helped by arranging the game 48 hours before league matches. "But he has still let me down and I think that's bad news before a game when other clubs also have players involved in two games within 48 hours yet have not taken this action." |
